Lasik Eye Surgery Board Index

Hello,
This is my first post and I joined because I am so nervous about my LASIK appointment today. I also cannot decide if I should do the mono vision or just stick with the standard LASIK. Does anyone have any advice for me? I am a 51 year old male and have been wearing contacts for 28 years. For the past several years I have been wearing bifocal contacts so many times I have not needed readers. I have heard some mixed reviews about the mono vision LASIK, however, my Dr. is suggesting I go with it first, and if I don't like it after several months I could go back in and have the full LASIK done to the other eye. Sometimes I wonder why I am even doing this since the contacts have been working, however, after this many years of wearing them I am really tired of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I am seriously considering cancelling the appointment today, but I know I am probably panicking unecessarily!

Hi, Player77. I am almost 45 and considering "mini" monovision (where the non-dominant eye has just a slight undercorrection). I am just wondering what you decided to do and whether you are happy with the decision? Prior to this, I have not yet gotten bifocals but am on the verge of needing them. I am doing a contacts trial to see if I can tolerate the monovision and it's tough to decide.
