Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

Lasik Eye Surgery Board Index

Hello, I am new to this forum and I am so glad I found it.
I am in my early 50’s.
I had Custom wavefront Lasik Blended vision correction done 5 weeks ago with lasik Xtra which extends the longevity of LASIK, decreasing the need for touch-up procedures.
My prescription was -5.00 in each eye with some astigmatism in my right eye, which is my non-dominant eye. After having the surgery, I am quite impressed with my distance vision, however, my closing up vision is very blurry. At my 1 day post-op, the doctor told me to keep putting the in the Pred forte drops hourly and to use refresh celluvisc until my next appointment in 1 week. At my 1 week post-op, my close up vision was still blurry, the optometrist at the clinic told me that I was 20/20 in my left eye (dominant eye) and I was overcorrected in my right eye, which was showing as 20/50 and that I probably need a slight enhancement and in the meanwhile I should use reading glasses +1.50 and continue with Pre Forte and refresh celluvisc.
Well, this was upsetting when I was only 1 week post-op for her to make that call, maybe the inflammation must be all gone according to her and how come I was overcorrected when Lasik Xtra was applied. From what I read lasik Xtra prevents regression.

I was worried, so I called the clinic back the next day asking to speak to the surgeon. They had me come back within days to see the surgeon who said that I was not overcorrected, that I show as being overcorrected (still don’t understand the difference) He also said that I am still healing and he won’t make the call for any enhancements until I am almost 3 months post op. The surgeon told me to use Alrex twice a day and refresh celluvisc 7-8 times a day and to stop the Ped forte. The surgeon and clinic have been very good in addressing my concerns.
They see me every 2-3 weeks. My last visit was 2 weeks ago and my close-up vision was still blurry, but according to him there has been a positive minimum change, so small that I cannot see it but he can. I am still on Alrex twice a day and celluvisc.
For the most part, my day and night driving vision is great, but close up and especially in low-light, it’s terrible. When I spend some time reading or doing any close up work, I get a headache. When I wear the reading glasses I cannot read any fine. It is so frustrating.
I am really interested in hearing Henrietta’s outcome if and when an enhancement is done.
Sorry for the long post.
Thank you.
