... First of all, let me say, I am certainly not an expert on lasik and pregnancy. I've never even been pregnant, but I did have lasik 4 and a half months ago, so I figured I'd give my 2 cents. ... (8 replies)
... Michelle, Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am so torn on what to do with the lasik. With the pregnancy thing, I am confused because I heard if U have lasik & then get pregnant shortly after you can have regression. I certainly don't want that since I am so nervous to begin with. I don't want to have to do enhancements. I am reading so much about... (8 replies)
... iting. It is hard to make your decision based on other peoples situations, because it is impossible to know how YOUR body is going to react. My twin sister had lasik a few years ago and didn't have any problems after the first month, so even though I was nervous about my surgery I thought everything would be fine with me too. ... ... HI, I have a few questions I am hoping you guys can help me with! I am really considering getting the lasik surgery.I saw the doctor today for my first evaluation and he says I am a good canidate. However, I am concerned with the risks concerning pregnancy. ... (8 replies)
... I would appreciate anything anyone could tell me about this. I know I should just call my lasik doc for the answer to that question but, I figured I would hand it over to you girls first! ... (1 replies)
... Hi lbp, I agree with everything that Michelle said. I've also read many websites and doctor's reports that suggested waiting at least six months before having lasik. You do not want to take the chance of making dry eye problems worse! Trust me! I am also dealing with dry eyes four months after my surgery and they have been horrible. This is just my two cents.... I... (8 replies)
... lbp, The only thing I can tell you about pregnancy and eyes is that my sister wore contacts before she ever got pregnant but, once she was pregnant, she couldn't wear her contacts anymore because somehow, a woman's eyes actually change shape while they are prego. So, her contacts didn't fit anymore. Being preggo didn't change her vision any. Just the shape of her cornea or... (8 replies)
... Michelle, Thanks again. I am just really confused as what to do. I think I should just wait since I am having such doubt. Its just that I had my evaluation already and I was so close. But I have read so many different things regarding pregnancy. Some doctors say 6 months, some say 3 and some people have had regression, some have not.My doc said I could... (8 replies)
... Hi Ibp! Sorry if I scared you with the whole dry eyes thing! I wore contacts alot in the past, but the last few years I pretty much just wore my glasses since my contacts bothered me. I would just put contacts in for outdoor activities, sports, etc. The dry eye thing wasn't so bad at first for me, but really kicked in around 1.5 months. Since then it has been very... (8 replies)
... at a woman not have the surgery while she is pregnant, you can get pregnant right after the surgery. She said that your eyes are going to change a little during pregnancy but, not enough to undo the surgery. So, as far as what she told me, there is no waiting period. ... (1 replies)
... Hi Skylar...been following your lasik experience as well. I had the exact same surgery as you 1 week after you. ... (4 replies)
... personal account concerning pregnancy WITHIN 6 months of surgery. So far I'm very fortunate to have a great Lasik experience, so not sure if waiting 6 months is necessary...thoughts? ... (4 replies)
... BUT, we're trying for a family also, and we'd read that pregnancy changes the shape of the eye, and affects healing, and it's not recommended for 6 months after surgery. ... (1 replies)
... the winter when I first wake up. My vision is still crisp and I don't need any correction. No pain or anything like that. I have a toddler now, so going through pregnancy didn't change my vision although I've heard that can happen. So, I am still thrilled. ... (6 replies)
... Thanks for your replies! I had heard "wait 6 months"-maybe that is an abundance of caution. Glad to hear the 7 days figure. We'd like to have a baby and could potentially be pregnant as early as 4 months post-Lasik. I can't see why it would be a problem, especially since to this point my eye surgery has been uncomplicated. I'll ask 12/4 when I go for my 2 month follow-up and... (4 replies)
... I am also wondering about this as we'd like a family and were planning to wait the 6 months. My Lasik is next week. ... (1 replies)
... If you don't mind sharing, how long did the healing process take for you? How much did your vision fluctuate after surgery? What was your result 1 month out, 2 months out, 3 months out? Thanks in advance. (2 replies)
... I posted my experience under "My Interlase Experience" a few years ago (should still be accessible to read if you sort by # Views). Today a colleague asked about my experience and I found that old thread to email her and thought I'd give you guys an update. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!! Still 20/15, no issues with halos, etc. I had slight dry eyes before the... (2 replies)
How old for lasik?
Mar 16, 2008
... You have to be at least 18, but I've heard it's best to wait until after 25yrs of age. Your eyes also need to be stable, meaning no vision corrections in less than a year (or possibly two, can't remember off the top of my head). Also, if you're female, then you'd want to consider if you're going to be pregnant because pregnancy can also cause your vision to change (it did... (2 replies)
... Thanks~I appreciate the post. I think I am going to wait just to be safe! I have read a few things where women have had regression when they got pg. or afterwards. So I think to be on the safe side, I'll wait! Thanks so much! PS~I hate glasses too!LOL (8 replies)
