... I think that monovision is for those people who are going from nearsighted to farsighted. I can't remember what I read about it. I had lasik done 2 months ago tomorrow. ... (11 replies)
... I'm was in the same boat as you. I had lasik in April and did the monovision thing. I'm 20/20 in one eye (for distance) and 20/70 in the other eye (for reading). I'm still getting used to it. I lost my close up vision I had which I used for reading before surgery. I called it my reverse bifocal since I would look under my glasses or just take them off to read. The... (5 replies)

... For those who may be considering an enhancement after lasik, I just want to let you know of my experience with one so far. I had my original custom lasik done this past April, and had an enhancement in my right eye only last Wednesday. My left eye was left a little nearsighted (20/30) to help with reading & close up vision. I am thrilled with the outcome so far - I am... (0 replies)
... what diopters of myopia did you have in each eye? Could be -1.5 or -1.75 for each for 20/70. Monovision isnt for everyone. However if your myopia is severe, you have three choices, one is undercorrect both eyes with lasik and only need a thin pair of glasses for driving and movies. Two is fully correct one eye, undercorrect the other. Three is correct both fully and depend on... (5 replies)

Should I do it?

... I am considering getting lasik on my eyes. I am 27 years old and have worn glasses/contacts since I was in the third grade. I am really nearsighted. My contact prescription is -8.68 in both eyes. With my contacts in, the doctor said I see about 20/30 and this about what I would expect to see after the surgery. I went for a consultation a couple of weeks ago and the doctor said... (8 replies)
... My vision in my left eye is noticeably crisper than the right eye, which seems a bit blurry. I can see, but not as clearly as with my glasses. I was nearsighted and I didn't get Monovision. I have another follow up appointment in 3 weeks. Should I be seeing them sooner than 3 weeks? ... (3 replies)
... I've been nearsighted as long as I can remember. Glasses from about 6 years old, contacts at 14. ... (28 replies)

... Age matters a little for nearsighted people, because people tend to get more near sighted as they older (if they are going to get near sighted, that is) - up until about age 30. I was 19 when I first notice that my vision wasn't perfect anymore, I had 20/40 vision until I was about 24. then 20/60, then 20/80. I waited until I was 31 to get my Laisk (though I probably... ... Hi, I had PRK surgery on 10/23/06. As of now, just one week ago. I went in and had the bandage contacts removed yesterday and they said I am at about 20/40 in both eyes. I was happy!! I know it will only get better....I hope. I have been nearsighted all my life - don't remember when I wasn't wearing glasses. To have 20/40 is really cool. But, my eyes now are very dry... ... GMUJenn, Wow! What can I say! I got my surgery 1 month and 2 weeks ago and last night, I was crawling into bed when I just glanced into the bathroom at the alarm clock my hubby keeps on his side of the sink in the bathroom. I don't know for sure but, I don't think with my glasses I would have been able to see the time on that clock. Post-op, I could see it. There was a... (7 replies)

... I had IntraLasik done on the 9th of this month. I am two days post op and can see 20/25. This was the lasik done without the blade using the IntraLase to cut the flap. The flap cutting is where most of the complications occur. So far, I am amazed at my results. My diopter was a -10 in both eyes, so I was extremely nearsighted. They checked me for moisture before the... (7 replies)
... Just wondering if you ever ended up adjusting to this & if you are happy now? This is the exact blended vision target that I am considering (about 20/40 in the non-dominant eye). Trying in contacts now prior to possible surgery. (1 replies)
... I had the bladeless LASIK procedure done on 12/29. I'm 42, nearsighted, approximately -5 diopters in both eyes with pretty strong astigmatism. The Optometrist said I was a few years out from presbyopia, so this was not part of the equation. Day 1 was as expected - quite blurry, cloudy. 24 hour check up showed 20/20 in right eye, 20/40 in left eye (I think they were quite... (1 replies)
... What does 20/70 mean? Is that better than where you started at -4.00? Ask for your numbers and not just the eye chart line you could read because there could be lots of things causing it for example: your eye did not correct all the way and so you are still nearsighted, swelling, dryness, astigmatism, overcorrection farsightedness. At this early stage you likely still have... (4 replies)
