... Hi all 20/15 in both eyes 12 months post-op. Slight starbursting at night, but I consider it a small price to pay. Unless you're + or - 8.00 dioptres out try a surface treatment. They're all pretty much the same but there are new treatments out there like LASEK or Epi-LASIK that can cut some of the pain and recovery time off traditional PRK. Put some serious thought into... ... I searched forever before someone told me about this site - I feel much better after reading all the posts here, I really wanted to hear from people who had had the procedure, not just sites trying to sell the surgery and telling you how safe it is. What really scared me was the release form I have to sign before they do the procedure - it listed SO many possible problems... (6 replies)
... corrected. PRK can take up to one year for your vision to fully stabilize. ... (5 replies)
... but you live with those eyes for the rest of your life. Especially with epi or prk where full recovery could be a month or two, doing one eye and waiting until you are comfortable with the outcome is great insurance in my opinion. ... (11 replies)
... e isn't healed or anything. So you should have stable clear vision, even better than with glasses due to limitations of glasses. Comparing it to your vision pre op without glasses doesnt make much sense. That way you could compare it to your contacts wearing vision. ... (1 replies)
... Hey Sam, sorry to hear about your issues. Having LASEK instead of LASIK is nothing to worry about - they both have similar outcomes - but you should be informed beforehand. Mitomycin C is thought to prevent corneal haze, which is a small risk specific to LASEK and PRK (but not LASIK). There are a few reports linking MMC to dry eye, but I see more evidence against that... (1 replies)
... I am having problems with glare, halos, starbursts. Day and night. So they said I had 8mm pupils and that there treatment zone would max out at 8mm They are using visex S4. I looked this up it seems treatment zones could be highe for the device. I'm trying figure out my options at this point. Should I continue to wait? My eyes don't react to light like they should my doctor... (6 replies)
... Hello Nattthy... I think that in the post-op period, while you are still on heavy duty eyedrops such as steroids and NSAIDs, you should get your doctor's approval before using something else. When I needed a nighttime ointment, my doctor prescribed an erythromycin (antibiotic) ointment. At least one study showed that vitamin A did not improve healing after PRK. Again,... (1 replies)
... Five days post-op, I'm already seeing perfectly out my left (LASIK) eye. My right (PRK) eye is almost useless as everything's so blurry. I'd estimate 20/20 in me left eye and about 20/60 in my right (2 replies)
... I will not say whether you should do it or not. Most people seem to get pretty good results. Unfortunately I am not one of them and I would not have done it knowing I got the results I did. I am 3 weeks post-op Lasik (and PRK in the other) eye and I got lousy results. I am -1.25 or about 20/50 so I still will need glasses. Also I had thin corneas so I probably will not be... ... days away... Thursday morning is my surgery appointment. I have been reading that Vitamin C taken a week before and up to 2 weeks after surgery can help with post op side effects like hazing, starbursts and halos etc. ... (1 replies)
... Some days you'll see great, and others not so great. That is normal. My husband is about 6 months post and he still has good and not so good days. Don't want to say bad days, that was pre op. I do drops almost every hour, try more often. ... (13 replies)

... there are some very emotional responses here that dont reflect any of the research I have done. OP, if you want to know if LASIK is appropriate for you, just consult an opthamalogist. There are sophisticated equipment they use PRIOR to any surgery that determine whether the sugery can appropriately correct your vision. Two points I would like to address that have been...
