| A raised WBC, more times than not, is the result of infection.
For me, what set off the red flags for my family doctor to send me to the Children's hospital was when my CBC came back with a 20,000 WBC, 6.7 hemogoblin (severe anemia) and a platlet count at 56,000. He had thought I could have mono, since that causes raised WBC and lower platlets, but my hemogolin/RBC and platlets wouldn't have been that bad, even with severe mono. |
