Your Opinions
Jan 15, 2004
:jester: [COLOR=DarkSlateBlue]I am a 46 yr old female who for the past few months have been having a variety of symptoms. This past March I had a bout of gastroenteritis with 24 lb. weight loss and severe nausea and vomiting. At the time my CBC was abnormal but both me and my doctor blew it off that I was sick. At the time my WBC was 20.6, HGB 15.7, HGB 46.7 Platlets 520. I went back to doctor the end of December to have blood work done for my chlosterol medicine. My WBC,H&H and Platlets are still very high. I have an appointment with a hematologist on the 23rd, As far as my symtoms go I have been having alot of muscle and bone pain, constant sinus trouble with some bleeding, fatique that continues to get worse, brusing easly but then I have always done that. From my reading on the net I could well have leukemia. What is the opinion of those who have delt with this disease or any other blood disease these symptoms and blood work might fit.

Thanks for any opinions

Kathryn

Those symptoms do sound suspicious. But, there is also the possibility that the gastro is not completely cured and you have a lingering infection. If so, it may just take a few more antibiotics to get the remaining infection under control. With the gastro being the precipitating illness, it could be a lymphoma of some kind. Do you have any other symptoms such as rashes or spiking fevers? ( spiking meaning that at one time of day or another the fever jumps from normal to a mild to moderate fever, then drops down to normal or below).
The really only way to know what is going on is to see your hematologist and let them have a good look. Good luck to you and let us know what you find out if you are willing to.
