Keep a daily journal of her temperatures and get copies off ALL lab work she has had done. If you are in a PPO and do not need a referral, call a hematologist in your insurance network and get an appointment. If you do need a referral, ask her doctor to make it if for no other reason than your peace of mind.

I recently had a leukemia scare myself with a WBC of 23,000 and no other symptoms except fatigue and fever. I also have autoimmune problems and have been on prednisone. Mine high count was chalked up to inflammation and steroids. Probably hers is from a viral infection of some kind, but it isn't going to hurt anything to see a hematologist.

I had a WBC of 13,000 and my hematologist said it is "inflammation without obvious cause."

What does that mean?? Thanks in advance.
