Low WBC

... That is not terribly low. It does not indicate anything unusual going on. The white blood cell count has to get down below 3.00 before any alarm bells go off for anything bad. Remember, that number represents millions of cells. In diseases like AIDS, the counts can drop down to 200,thousand compared to the 4.4 million that your results were referring to. (3 replies)

The natural killer cells that would help to prevent infection seem to be pretty low if that is your total lymphocyte count. ... Those values by themselves do not indicate Leukemia. It does indicate infection of some kind. Perhaps the doctors think that you have an infection in your blood stream that is resistant to the usual antibiotic. The MPV stands for Mean Platelet Volume. ... a high b -12 level is a good thing provided there is not an underlying illness going on. You have not quoted anything that sounds dangerous. But, if you continue to have doubts and want to pursue it, check with a liver specialist since that is where the extra b12 gets stored. (2 replies)

... It sounds like your brother could have been exposed to radiation or other toxin that wiped out his wbc count. Sometimes HIV related illnesses can do that too. Wait to see what the doctor says. Cancer is not the only Cause of hematological illness. (4 replies)
