... a high b -12 level is a good thing provided there is not an underlying illness going on. You have not quoted anything that sounds dangerous. But, if you continue to have doubts and want to pursue it, check with a liver specialist since that is where the extra b12 gets stored. (2 replies)

... Thanks so much Marimac - I can add that in 2006 it was 5.2 and then fell consistently down to 3.9 and now it's 3.8. Most labs consider 3.8 on the low side of normal but what has her doctor concerned is the fact that even with B-12 shots, it's going down, not up. Her RBC is normal as well as all her other tests. She hasn't heard yet on the additional testing for leukemia... (3 replies)

... I think you still need to consult your doctor. If the ranges were given they may have been different in 2001. Also, age makes a difference as well and that will soon be 5 years ago. 5 years aging means a lot with some blood tests. (4 replies)

... First and foremost ask your doctor. Secondly, a tenth of a point over the far end range usually means nothing. If testing for a progressive disease, the doctor would monitor for greater or progressive changes over time. ( Say 6 months or so. Unless there are other symptoms, or tests to go with these reports the tests are quite normal actually. (4 replies)

... Those values by themselves do not indicate Leukemia. It does indicate infection of some kind. Perhaps the doctors think that you have an infection in your blood stream that is resistant to the usual antibiotic. The MPV stands for Mean Platelet Volume. If that is high then it means that there may be something going on in your body that indicates to your body that it is in... (2 replies)
