... It sounds like your brother could have been exposed to radiation or other toxin that wiped out his wbc count. Sometimes HIV related illnesses can do that too. Wait to see what the doctor says. Cancer is not the only Cause of hematological illness. (4 replies)

... Usually the doctors start worrying if the platelets fall below 20,000. But the bone marrow clinic didn't worry until it was under 10,000. If the red blood count went below, I believe it was 9. something, then you received blood. And if the white goes too high they have medication. ... (3 replies)

... evious board. Anyway, if your nephrologist told you you were anemic, then your blood tests did NOT come back normal. Anemia, by defintion means that you have a low hemoglobin and that would've shown up on the blood test. A couple more things I want to ask you. ... (1 replies)
