Cancer: Lung Message Board

Cancer: Lung Board Index

This is my 1st time to post anything anywhere ~ ever. There comes a time that a person just searches for some answers of friends that are going throught the same situations. My husband (53) was diagnosed on Feb 15 of this year with stage IV NSLC. We thought he was having a heart attack and they found a 6cm tumor that had attached itself to his heart. Before leaving the hospital after 6 days of being in pure shock ~ they found 2 tumors in his brain. They began radiation on his brain to stop the growth there and then began chemo ~ they made him sooooooo sick! He lost 60lbs and ended up with a stomach tube for feeding purposes. After that he ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung. One tumor in his brain was gone (Oh yeah!!) the other still there, but they say it is dying. The tumor in his chest has shrunk enough that you can not see it on x-rays! I'm so jazzed that he is responding to treatments so well, but am cautiously happy and I think I've really upset him with that. The cancer has also they believe spread to his adrenal gland ~ I was wondering if anyone has had the same or close to the same as my husband. I have gone through my daughters cancer when she was 10 she is now 29!! My mother passed of brain cancer ~ devastating ~ and now my husband whom the doctors say 12 months or so. They can not do anymore radiation on his tumor in brain or chest -he's had enough. So now its Gemzar and Cisplatin. How long can a person keep taking chemo? There are just so many questions.

Thank you in advance to anyone that replys

I don't have any answers but my brother has recently been diagnosed with nsclc which has spread to his liver and adrenal glands. I am looking for anyone with a similar situation to hear their story and get support. I am still reeling from the news - my brother never smoked, never was around second hand smoke, jogged all the time. . . and then we get this devastating news. My heart goes out to you and your family. I recently read somewhere that there is not one form of cancer that has had no survivors. . . so there is always hope.
