Mine is even more complicated than yours. I also have mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) which is a bacterial infection of the lungs. I took antibiotics and a tuberculosis medicine from July 2003 to Sept. 2004 for that. The doctor took me off the medicine but I think I still have the MAC. I was coughing mostly at night because I would have a tickle in the bronchial area and it was hard to get anything up. When I did, it would be a yellowish green color. It also was of a granular substance. It was almost like little tiny pieces of chalk was in it. I believe the doctor said that was mucous plugs. Anyway, the doctor went into my lungs, got a sample of what was in there, sent it off for about a month and when the results came back it was diagnosed as MAC and bronchiectasis. Ever since I took the antibiotics when I lie down at night on my back in the bed, I keep having to clear my throat because of the phlegm, etc. that is coming up from my bronchial tubes or lungs. I keep doing this until it all comes out. It is hard for me to tell now whether this is coming from the bronchiectasis or the MAC. MAC will make you have a tired feeling all the time I reckon because the lungs are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. I can also hear a little wheezing noise in my chest. I am 65 years old. You are very young to have this. I will just leave it up to my doctor on whether he thinks it would do any good to take out part of the lung. I see him again in either March or April of 2005. There is a thread on the Lung Respiratory thread called Mycobacterium Avium Complex. Chardonnay and Grammy, one who has MAC and Bronchiectasis and the other one just has MAC, and I are keeping up with what is happening to each other. Keep posting to let us know how you are doing. Ann
