Pain in lung area
Jul 19, 2007
For over a year now, I have had pain and discomfort in my lower right lung area. Last September, I had a CT scan and nothing showed abnormal. I went to another doctor for a second opinion and he thought it was muscle spasms. So I took a month long dose of NSAIDs. The pain continued. Actually, it feels like there is something in my lung/ribcage that shouldn't be there. When I sit in a seat with lumbar support or when something presses against my lower right side, it ranges from discomfort to pain. When I go to bed at night, it hurts so much that I can't get comfortable and in the morning, I am in alot of pain if I have been in bed over 6 hours.
Last week, after the problem seemed to be getting worse, I went back to my doctor. He ordered a chest x-ray and these are the appears I have "subsegmental atelectasis and/or pneumonitis" in my mid and lower right lung and in my lower left lung. This is what the nurse told me today over the phone and I am waiting to hear from my doctor tomorrow. I know what these two things are, but have no clue why I might have either one of them. Does anyone have a clue about what might be going on with me???? I have never smoked, no history of lung problems, no recent colds, and I don't even remember the last time I took an antibiotic. I am 5'8" and am a little bit overweight (which I am working on reducing). I am generally healthy except for this lung thing.
I sure do hope someone can give me some insight on this problem. Thanks and God bless!
