I notice that whenever someone talks about ANA, it's a ratio, i.e. 1:320, 1:640, etc., and that there is a pattern such as "speckled."

I've had blood work 3 times and the ANA result is always reported as "ANA Direct", with an exact number. Negative is 0-99, Equivocal is 100-120, and Positive is anything above 120. Mine is 710, with no mention of a pattern.

Does anyone know what that translates to in terms of ratio and pattern? My rheumy has never mentioned it, just says that a positive ANA is often a marker for Lupus. Should the test results be more specific?

Thanks for any help!
