Lupus, or what?
Feb 7, 2011
I am female, 28, three kids. During my third pregnancy I was incredibly itchy, no dry skin or rashes at that point, I just itched. After her birth the constant itching let up but I am still a pretty itchy person, especially when resting. It makes it very hard to settle down and go to sleep when I have to keep wiggling around to scratch something.

I also get these mystery rashes. Sometimes they start as a few tiny bumps and then spread, other times they look more like they're under the skin and there's no itching at all until it spreads. Most common spots are the trunk of my body/neck and upper arms. It will itch, burn, or sometimes both, and takes a week or more to go away. And it doesn't always spread from the point of origin. Day 1 might be a small patch on my arm, day 2 a big patch, day 3 new patches will start on my neck and ribs... you get the picture. Antihistamines both oral and topical do not subside the itching or stop the spreading.

I have other symptoms as well, joint pain and fatigue, but I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2002 and my doctor blames anything under the sun on that. Before this current rash surfaced I was so very sleepy, not physically tired but feeling more like I hadn't slept in days. My hands also hurt to the point that anything other than keeping them balled in a fist was very painful. My eyes are also very dry and sore, but not red like allergies.

These aren't the best pictures, but this is what my current rash looks like. It has started on my inner thighs this time and spots can be seen down to my calf on my left leg. I also have it on the back of my neck and my ribs again, though not as severe.

Day 2- Was on my upper inner thigh where the leg connects to the pelvis. Looked more like burst blood vessels under the skin, no raised bumps. More splotchy than the day before. Sorry it's so cropped, didn't want to include any personal areas.

Day 3- Today, less than 12 hours after the first picture was taken it has exploded into a raised rash and down my leg. The flash drowns out some of the redness.

This is my face. My cheeks and nose have always been "rosy," they've been redder but no where near some of the images I've seen during my searching.

Sorry that was so winded. I have no idea what to make of this, but my friend told me to look into Lupus and I do have some similarities, but they could be from other things too. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.
