I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm 21 years old and have been dealing with some pretty annoying symptoms (joint pain/swelling/redness/stiffness, dry mouth/eyes, nose ulcers, rashes on my elbows/face/chest, fatigue, Raynaud's).

I had some blood tests originally which showed an elevated ANA, speckled (my GP said it wasn't overly high). My CRP, CBC, rheumatoid factor and anti-CCP were normal. My ESR was slightly high, but my GP said this isn't a good measure of inflammation, the CRP was better (why test in the first place then!?)

I had a major flare up of whatever is going on and could barely walk from the swelling in my knees. My GP put me on Prednisone for a month and I felt like a new person!

I finished the Prednisone course and saw the rheumatologist 3 weeks after being off them. The rheumatologist said my joints weren't swollen because the Prednisone was still in my system. She ran some blood tests and so far all has been normal, including my ANA!

I did a bit of googling and it said that Prednisone can skew antibody blood tests. Does anyone know anything about this? I know it can bring CRP/ESR down, but what about ANA and the other specific antibodies?

Thanks.
