This is the only place where I know I will be understood when I say I'm excited that I may finally be getting a diagnosis.

With pictures in hand, of when the rash was worse, I saw my workplace doctor on Monday and my family physician today. Both said that it looks very much like a malar rash, and both want me to see the rheumy again as soon as possible and want me to show him the pictures

Without going into all the mind-numbing details, I've been on a medical roller coaster for 2 years. It was a very sudden onset, and life as I know it changed dramatically. The first year was horrid. The second year was rough. Last month began the third year.

This rash just appeared in the past month.

I've read all the sticky notes, and done some reading on my own. Over the last two years, I've stopped panicking and I take everything with a grain of salt.

But here are the documented uncontested-everyone agrees facts that meet the criteria

-neurological (small fiber peripheral neuropathy)
-ulcers in nose and mouth
-malar rash - to be confirmed by rheumy

If I'm not mistaken, that should be enough for a diagnosis. My neuropathy has been progressing, and without identifying the underlying cause, only the symptoms are treatable. If this is lupus, and I respond to treatment, then perhaps the neuropathy will improve.

Don't get me wrong - I don't wish to have lupus. But I do wish to know what the heck has been going on and limbo land is a misery known only to those who reside there.

Don't hesitate to burst my bubble if I've missed something in my 'excitement'....
