... So She Looked At My Last Labs From Last Month. And She Mentioned The Double Stranded Dna Thing, And That It's Positive, Or The Numbers Are High, I Forget What She Said. ... (6 replies)
... my blood test showed anti-double stranded anti-DNA level of 2, what does that mean (2 replies)
... I believe 40 and below is negative and 60 or more is positive (4 replies)

... Does anyone know what an Anti Double Stranded DNA value of 4 is? ... (4 replies)
... speckled, and anti DNA double stranded, 32. ... (3 replies)
... All labs are different, so the Anti-dna values can be different too. Do you know what the "normal range" of the Anti-DNA at the lab that you had it done? It should be located on the lab sheet beside the + value in brackets. That will give a better idea. Mine was 151 up here, and the cut off was 20. Heck of a flare!!! Shari was right though, the Anti-dna is much more... (7 replies)
... Can someone tell me what a DS (double stranded) Anti-DNA result of <10 means? That's all the info I have. (2 replies)

... Anti DNA double stranded IgG Eliza is 380. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you. ... (3 replies)
... Hi. Why not get a copy from your GP of the labs that showed high DNA? Then start a personal file, and maintain it at least while going thru the evaluation process. Then you'd know which kind* of DNA, the value + hopefully the reference range to make sense of the value. (* BTW, anti-double-stranded-DNA is redolent of systemic lupus, whereas anti-single-stranded-DNA suggests... (6 replies)
... Zoe, I just read myself that certain meds can cause lymphocytopenia (low lymphocytes), but I think some of the inflammatory AI's themselves can as well, like lupus & RA, and maybe more. Re RF, I don't know what level is considered "interesting". I think doctors often run a more useful test called anti-CCP (anti-cyclic citrullinated protein). I'd also wonder if the... (21 replies)
... Yes , it was the results by crithidia ifa testing. The only other abnormal was the high RNP and Ana of 1:160 speckled pattern over the year. I did have a skin biopsy which showed maybe indication of lupus. Like I said the rheumy just said udct even with the high RNP, but now said probably lupus. So Vee, would a 1:320 dna ds ab like really high when the normal is below 1:10?... (5 replies)
... Hi. I didn't quite follow your first sentence. Were those the findings for anti-ds-DNA (anti-double-stranded DNA) on a "Crithidia immunofluorescence test"? Crithidia may be an older test with substantial pitfalls; ELISA may be more common today....? (I'm not knowledgeable on the various generations of these tests, so I hope others who know more will comment.) Was anti-RNP... (5 replies)
... when i was first diagnosed with lupus my ana was 1:640 and my DsDNA was 1:40 and i had no symptoms at all until one summer my muscles got inflamed..then i started getting sick and by the time i was in a lupus crisis it went through the roof..My ana then was 1:2400(AND SOMETHING) and my DsDNA was 1:5200(and something) Anti-DNA is an immunoglobulin specific against native... ... I'm very glad to hear that your doctor is sending you to a rheumatologist, Kara. That's the first step to finding out what's wrong with you, and the right doctor to do so, if you have lupus. Your positive ANA is a very good reason to suspect you do, although other auto-immune diseases show positive ANA tests, too. I also have the speckled pattern, incidentally. I can't... (24 replies)
... Hi, again. Anti-ds-DNA is one of the two autoantibodies that really shout, "It's lupus!" (The other is anti-Sm.) If you test positive for it, it's pretty much a given that you have lupus. Further, I *think* anti-ds-DNA levels improve (meaning decrease) when lupus is under good control. So if a rheumie sees high levels, she/he will probably re-evaluate meds, the... (6 replies)
... I am in NO WAY an expert but I know that anti ds dna is ONE of the tests used to diagnosis Lupus. ... (2 replies)
... Hi, Kimberlyn. I'll try to keep this short & simple, if there IS such a thing in this disease. Yell if it doesn't make enough sense, OK? In lupus, the immune system mistakenly churns out UNWANTED antibodies that attack our own bodies. These are called "autoantibodies". There are quite a few possible---one writer lists 16 in his lupus hardcover. The names usually (not... (6 replies)
... Melissa, very *high* anti-ds-DNA points strongly to lupus, but *slight* elevations are possible in some other conditions. In fact, a very high finding would fulfill one of the 11 ACR criteria. But without the reference range, it's impossible to tell how high yours is; so when you discuss your findings with your doctor, you should ask for the range & ask how high he/she deems... (5 replies)
... Hi Kimberlyn, Just to answer a question you asked, I'm on methotrexate, as well as Plaquenil (for lupus), mobic (NSAID), and a host of others for various problems from the lupus, including heart among them. We've had me on plaquenil since I was diagnosed and plan to continue it as long as necessary. It is a DMRD or Disease modifying rheumatoid drug. That didn't do the... (6 replies)
