... i have been on prednisone now since last april. i have tapered down to 10mg which is supposed to be my maintenance dose. i, unlike you, did not get any ill side effects. my guess is that if you are getting all those side effects and your doc still wants to medicate you, he will try something else. maybe cellcept? good luck. hopefully once its tapered, the side... ... I have read all these posts and all I can think of to say is " OH MY GOSH" At this moment I am considering cancelling all my appts in Jan and just living my life. This thing sounds as if the cure is worse than the illness. When my sister had cancer, then later a heart tansplant she was on most of the stuff you mentioned and she never had these reactions. After 2 years her... (20 replies)
... Hello everyone, For the past 4 months or so I have been experiencing a rather nasty lupus flare: severe arthritis, fatigue, loss of appetite, terribly swollen joints, etc. I have been gradually improving since my doctor put me on a new medication, Cellcept, but the last two days I have been much worse: whenever I take a deep breath I get rather severe pain in my chest, and... ... Thanks for all the great input. I am on prednisone 7.5mg (which is not enough to control my pain) and plaquenil- which they are stopping to try the Cellcept- I hope all goes well. I am starting my dosing tonight since the doctor said it might upset my stomach. I will keep you posted Thanks again, ... (9 replies)

... One of the reasons people with Lupus are considered immune suppressed is because of the drugs we are on. Remember, any of the followiing suppress your immune system; Prednisone, methatrexate, cellcept, plaquenill and there are a host of others. I happen to be on all of those 4 that I've mentioned and am considered to be very immune suppressed. (9 replies)

... This post has been sitting here without an answer for months, but now I find myself in a similar situation to Lupus24. If anyone has a similar experience, with kidney involvement (membranous or worse), being on high dose steroids versus going ahead with Imuran, Cellcept, or other similar meds that can make you sterile, please share what you know! If you have the children you... (5 replies)

... I have had recurring UTIs with kidney involvement and the pericarditis and pluerisey. So when they found the pos. ANA and the Homogeneous/speckled pattern they knew it was SLE. At least that is what she told me. The story was not about me though. This was a relative of my daughter-in-law. I have no idea how they dxed her. I only know she had lupus that attacked her... ... Just a little story to go along with celcept. My daughter-in-law told me one of her distant cousins has lupus. Hers got so bad she needed a kidney transplant. After the transplant her lupus appeared to go into remission. She thought this was great but didn't understand. She had suffered with this for many years. Her transplant Dr. explained that celcept and gengraf were... (16 replies)

... Hey Shari, I can't believe that your Rheumy said that!! "You'll come out of it on your own". Well, if that doctor knew anything they would know that flare after flare it takes LONGER to come out of one without meds to help. AND permanent damage is already done! So its all good and fine since its not THEIR bodies!! As for medications.. you asked about reversing the... (16 replies)
... I can't believe your not being prescribed Plaquenil or prednisone. These are prescirbed to the people who don't have organ involvement. Those with organ involvement take things like CellCept. (14 replies)
... For someone with renal involvement, the very least you should be taking is Plaquenil. I'm really surprised that they aren't pushing Methotrexate, CellCept or Imuran for you. These are chemo drugs that are frequently used for renal lupus patients. ... (8 replies)
