... Hi all, I've been on a many year journey to get some form of diagnosis. Symptoms are multi joint pain (no swelling), calf pain, muscle fasciculations, and unbelieveable amounts of fatigue (can sleep 16+ hours/day) and brain fog. Went to plenty of local doctors and even to the Cleveland Clinic a few times. At first locally they diagnosed me with narcolepsy, later... (7 replies)

... I too was diagnosed with "mild Lupus", as someone else said it is "non-organ threatening disease". It can become worse, however, recently I had another ANA and it was negative for the 1st time in 10 or so years. I haven't had symptoms for a while. I have heard that the non organ threatening kind can just burn itself out after a while. I first had symptoms in my 20's, but... (9 replies)
Mild Lupus?

... Vee, I guess I am just afraid that my "mild lupus" will turn into something much worse. I feel bad enough as it is. I'm not even the same person I was a few months ago. I hate that I am the one who has changed my hubby's life so much! I would feel alot less nervous about this if I knew it would just stay the same as it is, and not get worse and start in on my organs. I guess... (9 replies)

... Dear Lola, Your dr. may be using the phrase "mild lupus" to mean major organs & organ systems are not affected---like kidneys, CNS (central nervous system), heart, lungs, etc. Constitutional problems (fatigue, etc.), joint problems, skin problems, etc. can still occur. But while those can affect quality of life a lot, they are not life-threatening the way major organ... (9 replies)

Mild Lupus?

... Dear Lola, Just wanted to ask a question.. Are you on an antimalarial? I ask because Plaquenil has helped me with my SCLE-type lupus. My persistent anemia cleared, migraines stopped, irritable bowel & bladder settled down a lot; and joint pain, fevers, hair loss, fatigue, etc. also decreased. Another reason I jumped at the help offered to me: my mother, always prone to... (9 replies)
... Thank you, lemonlips. (gosh that's a funny one) I do have strength and the ability to live normally 99% of the time. But have me prepare for company ? It knocks me out. I'm in bed 48 hours. ... but wanted to reply anyway. Having "the smallest case" probably just means that you have no organ involvement or serious involvement with blood, organs, etc. Mild should have probably been the correct discriptive, but you know those darn docs, they seem to like to make us wonder what they mean!! ... ... As posted above the dsDNA is specific for Lupus....you only see this with Lupus. You wife may have "mild" Lupus & the tick bite may have triggered a flare & now she is pulling out of it. The important thing is if she does have Lupus to be treated & to be monitored regulary. Did the rheumy who diagnosed her suggest Plaquenil? He should have if he truly suspects Lupus. The... ... I have read so much info about lupus and most state that a high titer ANA is more predictive of lupus than an low titer one. I was wondering how many people here have lupus and a low titer ANA. ... (6 replies)
... Hi, Angie. I suspect many doctors want to see your "criteria" with their very own eyes. This can be awful, given that symptoms (diagnostic criteria & all other) can wax and wane---and can be almost impossible to recreate it you are already on meds & are avoiding sun, too. I also suspect some doctors get their wee thrills by overriding Dx'es made by OTHER doctors. But then... (19 replies)

Lupus or Not
Mar 20, 2007
... Thanks for the replies! I did read the sticky notes with the criteria, and that's why I'm so puzzled, I just don't fit the classic "lupus" criteria. I am also wondering about B12 defiency. I know that the normal is 200-1100 and mine was 346, which according to the lab report, levels between 200 & 400 may cause "hemotalogical abnormalities and symptoms in some percentage of... ... I learned the hard way about the sun and how it does people with lupus. Now I have a new respect for it. As much as I whine about the lupus, I still know how fortunate I am every time I look around me. When I go out to see my dad, I see the most pitiful people. He's not in a regular nursing home. He is in a State Health Center that is run more like a hospital. He likes it... (5 replies)
