ANCA positive?
Mar 5, 2015
... I agree that a titer of 1:1280 on ANA is more than "Post viral" and having even a weakly + ANCA lends support to the fact that something is going on with you that needs attention. If nothing else, it should make the rheumy sit up and take notice, and look for any signs of vasculitis. I think ANCA can be + in lupus, and an explanation should be sought as well for the... ... lovessunshine, hi & welcome. I'm just a patient, but I hope you're seen by a rheumatologist. From reading, I believe RF and CRP can elevate in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, maybe in other conditions, too (I'm not sure). As for being negative for anti-ds-DNA, that's good, of course, but other autoantibodies are also possible in lupus. Only two---anti-ds-DNA and... (19 replies)

... mssleeper, hi & welcome. I'll add some thoughts that you might turn into questions for your dr. at your upcoming appt. ANA is positive in various conditions in rheumatology & other specialities. In rheumatology, examples are lupus (almost always), rheumatoid arthritis (sometimes), Sjogren's syndrome (usually very high), etc. Also, ANA can be low-positive only due to a... (15 replies)

Ds DNA @ titer 20
Oct 26, 2012
... Hi. Apparently anti-ds-DNA can vacillate: it can be higher just before, or at the start of, flares; and once it turns positive, it stays positive. I don't know that it's a titer test, though (sorry), you'd have to ask. Unfortunately, if the reference range on the report says >10 is positive, then >20 appears to be solidly positive, but you should confirm with someone familiar... (3 replies)

Please help
Aug 7, 2016
... Hi! I was hoping maybe someone could help me here. I'm scared and waiting to hear from the rheumatologist a office to schedule. Very new to all of this. I had some bloodwork done to rule out rheumatoid arthritis and now my dr is referring me to a rheumatologist. The "asap" on the notes is alarming to me. It's difficult to find any actual number values online to see where... (8 replies)
... Rockcandy hi & welcome. Yes, it's confusing! First some high-level stuff: 1. ANA is positive in multiple conditions, including lupus and RA---and I think Interstitial Cystitis, too. Therefore ANA in & of itself isn't diagnostic of anything. Further, I think ANA of 1:80 is only slightly elevated. It's a titer test, wherein some subtance is added to your blood sample to...
