... Leslie, if DS DNA range is < 1:10, then 1:40 would seem to be fairly elevated. But since your lab uses a different range than mine, I think asking a rheum who knows how to interpret "Crithida titer" results is your best bet. Btw, I believe anti-ds-DNA can elevate in people who *don't* have lupus, because of infection, etc.---so I'd ask about that, too. ALT relates to liver;... (18 replies)
... Hi & welcome. Rheumatologists use a set of 11 criteria established by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) to assess patients for lupus. You may find the criteria in one of the "sticky posts" (permanent info posts) located aright bove the user threads. Generally, but not always, you must meet 4 or more to sustain the diagnosis; but they don't have to be met... (3 replies)
... Leslie, hi. Did you get copies of all your labs, including urinalysis? I'd be looking for--- 1. LOTS of special AB (antibody) tests even though ANA was negative. When ANA is done using the "reflex" testing approach, if it's negative, all the various AB tests aren't necessarily run. (That's what "reflex" conveys.) One reason you'd want to see the specialized AB tests run... (18 replies)

... VeeJ, thank you so much for replying. Let me see if I can answer any of your questions. Yes, I got copies of everything. You would be amazed at how much I have. Literally, it is 8-10" thick, or more! I was gonna give you the ranges, but... ugh... I JUST realized that my OB/Gyn still has everything. She is a new OB/Gyn. I told her everything I've been experiencing & to my... (18 replies)
... I can honestly tell that it's stressing you out wondering if you have Lupus or not. I don't believe in false positives on these tests unless the results are pretty low. If it ends up disapearing, then yeah, okay, but if it's persistent, then no way. There are very few false positive results to anti ds-dna. The best thing you can do to confirm the results is to go take the test... (7 replies)

... First let me say I am sorry you have been sick for so long without having been tested for lupus long ago. It's quite common for ANA to fluctuate between positive and negative, which invariably causes confusion, sometimes even for the Dr. ... (5 replies)

... y little "tiff" with the Rheum here in PA I called up my previous one and let him know what she had said. He had said that with SLE it is normal for the ANA and dsDNA to go back and forth and she should have relied more on my history. I also had asked this to other doctors and they said the same. ... ... 2 years ago it was ANA 1:80 and the anti-dsDNA was 10, now it's ANA 1:40 with anti-dsDNA 22. So which is worse ? 2 years ago they said it's borderline and if I don't have symptoms, let's wait, they didn't dx. me with lupus. I had ( and still have ) unexplained hip pain ( comes and goes ), headaches and lightheadedness ( had them before, but usually around periods ), but 2... (28 replies)

... ologist told me she wanted to see me again in 3 months to see if there were any progressions. I'm really becoming more certain that it has to be Lupus with these positive tests, and I'm worried that I won't be able to get a diagnosis for a long time to come. ... (8 replies)
... dsDNA is not often seen in healthy people, but it depends on the actual dsDNA assay used, most are very specific but lower dsDNA is seen in other conditions. ... (6 replies)
... Hi everyone, Sorry if this question has ever been asked before. I tried to go back and read as many posts as I could, but didn't find what I was looking for. My mom was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. She's 55. A few weeks ago, her internal medicine doctor ran a good deal of blood work, including an ANA and anti ds-DNA. Both were positive. The ANA was homogeneous 1:320... (6 replies)
