... Does anyone have a lot of red dots - they are like little broken capillaries - on their trunks or arms or legs? Is this a symptom of lupus? The rhuematologist I just saw simply ignored my questions about this. Thanks. (7 replies)
... Can anyone give me more info on this? I get tiny little red/purple spots under the skin all over my legs after prolonged sun exposure. They usually go away after a few days, and don't hurt. I've never talked to anyone that shared this reaction, so when I found a post (after googling) describing my symptom, it caught my eye. Here was the old post and the response: ... (1 replies)

... Angie, Glad you wrote back. I left out a question: what was the ANA pattern? e.g., speckled, rimed, homegeneous, ETC. Patterns can narrow the focus to a smaller # of things to consider first. Your rheumie "doesn't believe in high ANA levels"?!? I know I've read that ANA isn't the most meaningful marker of disease activity---but to believe one this high means NOTHING... (5 replies)

Cannot be lupus !

... Hi & welcome. I'm just a patient, so please read this in that light---and take what I write as possible questions for your drs., not answers. You'll find the diagnostic criteria for lupus in a "sticky post" (permanent info post) at the top of the thread list. To support a Dx of SLE, generally one must meet any 4 of the 11, and not necessarily simultaneously; once met,... (2 replies)

... Hi Patience-- I too have scratched the skin right off before, when the itch is intense, it is really intense. Mine comes and goes and the worst place for me is in the arches of both feet right below my ankle where there are several broken capillaries and it is discolored pink/red/purple depending on if it's coming or going. Sometimes I notice white spots in it as well, when... (9 replies)

... Dear andyr13, I just searched on vasculitis, too, to refresh my memory. Apparently it may be *caused* by various diseases, OR it may occur all on its own. I found a whole list of diseases which may cause vasculitis---among them lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, lymphoma, leukemia, to name just a few. Sometimes vasculitis is pretty obvious, meaning shows... (6 replies)
... I think you should have the right blood work done, if you haven't already. Are you aware that there is this checklist that is used to determine if you have Lupus, and if you meet a certain number of these symptoms (I forget how many), then they are willing to say that you do have Lupus. It sounds worth more investigation, if you ask me. The joint aches, the patch (mine... (5 replies)
