Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Hi Concerned Male, welcome to the board!

No Lyme test is completely reliable. From what I understand, the ELISA or titer is the least reliable and the one most doctors run first. Is this the test you had done? Although a bullseye rash is a definite sign of Lyme disease, only about 50% of people who have Lyme get a rash. People are often bitten by ticks without knowing it because they are tiny and inject a numbing agent so you cannot feel them on you.

Symptoms can occur shortly after or even years after the infection. Sometimes a person's immune system can fight off an infection until it becomes stressed in some way--accident, illness, divorce etc. Then symptoms emerge.

When Lyme disease is a possibility, it is very important to see a knoweldbeable doctor. Many doctors do not understand Lyme and follow outdated treatment protocols. Besides Lyme, ticks can transmit several co-infections and it is important to be tested for these because many people who have Lyme are co-infected. For more information, read the "Lyme Disease Information" post on this site.

If you tell me where you live, I will tell you of the closest knowledgeable doctor to you that I know of .

Hang in there, you will find out what is wrong.
