Lyme Disease Board Index

Hi Coyote,

I am glad you have gotten some answers but sorry that you have Lyme. I know it is crazy, huh?!? The total lack of knowledge out there in the mainstream establishment regarding tick borne illness.

It is very important that you get tested for tick borne coinfections such as Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Bartonella, and Mycoplasm. Babesia can cause extreme dizziness. Ehrlichiosis is common in the South. These coinfections can be transmitted by the same tick that transmitted the lyme bacteria. Babesia is a parasitic protozoan and must be treated with antimalarial drugs, antibiotics will not kill it. LLMDs (lyme literate M.D.s) typically like to treat the coinfections primarily first then go after the lyme. IgeneX lab does run blood tests for coinfections. Before you go on intravenous you should really have these tests run.

See the Lyme Information Post that Ticker just bumped up...you can get a lot of info. there about this if you haven't already.

I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care...Oh, one more thing...be sure you are taking a good quality (refrigerated) ProBiotic. You can get ProBiotics at a Health Food Store. You want to find one with multiple strains of good bacteria...this will help combat getting systemic yeast infections. Be sure to space out taking them from your antibiotics. I have been told to take them on an empty stomach before meals others say after meals. I try to take them three times a day.

Take care and keep us posted.
