Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Hi cj, did you know that a few years ago a Texas senator was diagnosed with Lyme disease? I believe he was trying to pass legislation regarding education and treatment.

In my opinion, the CDC is behind the times regarding Lyme disease. They require two of three IgM bands to be considered positive: 23-25, 39, 41. On the IgG, they require five of ten bands to show to be positive: 18, 21, 28, 30, 39, 41, 45, 58, 66, 93. The CDC also states "The diagnosis of Lyme disease is based primarily on clinical findings, and it is often appropriate to treat patients with early disease solely on the basis of objective signs and a known exposure..."

No Lyme test is completely reliable and many people who have Lyme test completely negative. Many of those who have positive bands do not have the number required by the CDC. Unfortunately, too many doctors rely solely on the CDC results to diangose Lyme and somehow fail to realize the CDC states diagnosis should be made primarily by clinical findings.

Speaking of lingo--well bless my socks!! I must say that is first for me! One can never have too many blessings, so muchas gracias!!!
