Lyme's or a virus?
Jul 18, 2005
Hi,

I'm new to this board. I guess you could say I'm looking for hope -- no one seems to know what is wrong with me.

I've been suffering with Vertigo/dizziness along with transient sore throat, neck stiffness, heaviness in my head, feeling like I'm falling -- including being woken out of a sound sleep feeling like I'm falling, floaters in my eyes, heart palpatations, shortness of breath, leg weakness, and a few times, knee aches for 3 months now. I've have been going through a battery of testing. I wasn't able to complete the ENG after they did the test in my left ear (I freaked out -- it was so awful) The Tech said that my eyes did what they were supposed to during that one part of the test, so I didn't complete the other ear. So far no one can tell me what is wrong with me. The ENT said that my Meniere's test came back negative, but that the test was unreliable. She said it could also be allergies causing my dizziness. My Neurologist had me go through a MRI last Thursday to rule out MS and a brain tumor. He said he didn't think it was Lyme's. My GP took another Lyme's test and I've been waiting since July 5 for my results.

It all started with fatigue in April. My dog contracted Lyme's so I figured I better get a Lyme's test from my GP, came back negative. I cannot remember 100% but I think I had a reddish rash on the top of my right leg -- but I have had so many symptoms, I truly cannot remember with certainty. Then I came down with a severe sore throat with white streaks (strep test came back negative), my tonsils were extremely swollen and I had hot/cold sweats. I was told it was allergies. After those symptoms abated, I woke up a week later to a severe vertigo episode. Went to an Urgent care center where they said I had a virus (I have two other acquantances with similar symptoms who have been told this is a virus) My GP said she thinks it is a virus, as well and it will clear up on its own. Now I am almost always dizzy with a feeling of heaviness in my head, fogginess often and for the past few days I've been very fatigued.

Anyone have any input? I would really appreciate it.
