Lyme Disease Message Board

Hi Fairy314. I also responded to your other post with a doctor recommendation.

Do you know how he removed the ticks he found? As I stated in the other post, when Lyme disease is a possibility it is very important to see a knowledgeable doctor. Many doctors do not understand Lyme and treat with outdated protocols. No test is completely reliable and results can vary by lab.

Besides Lyme, ticks can transmit several co-infections including Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma. Many people who have Lyme are co-infected, and it may affect treatment choice and progress. It is important to be tested for these by a Lyme reputable lab.

The sooner your brother gets evaluated and starts treatment, the better. Getting the proper treatment early in the infection may reduce the chance of long-term complications. He has an excellent chance of eraditing the infection by getting the proper treatment now. An great book is "Everything You Need To Know About Lyme Disease (2nd edition)" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner.

Keep us posted on how he is doing okay?
