Re: Zithromax?
Dec 3, 2006
Hi eclipse27. Zithromax is one of many antibiotics used to treat Lyme. There is no one best med for everyone. Each case is different and so is the response to the meds. Sometimes it can take time to tell if a med is working. When is your appointment?

I took Zithromax in combination with Clindamycin and Mepron. This was an excellent combination and I did very well and made a lot of progress with it. I was being treated for Babesiosis as well as Lyme, however.

As Ticker said, there are a number of medications used to treat Lyme and tick-borne co-infections. It is absolutely crucial to successful treatment that all co-infections be addressed and treated. There is no one best medication as it varies from person to person and from case to case. For one thing there are over 250 strains of Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme organism) in the US alone, and those are just the ones which have been identified so far. Co-infections will of course also determine the correct course of treatment.

Great news that you are going to see a competent doctor! That makes all the difference and can turn your whole life around. Best wishes and hang in there, you CAN get better!
