Need some advice!
Jan 9, 2007
Hello all,

It has been a while since I posted last. Sorry for the long post! I have been on my treatment now for 8 weeks. I have been doing 500mg if Zithromax and 2 grams of Rocephin via a picc line every day. I started to see a big difference in my fatigue and a few other symptoms around the 5th week. I was really happy that I began to see the light at the end of tunnel.

Then the holidays rolled around and of course I was doing a lot more than i should have. I began to feel really tierd as of Christmas day and it has gone down hill ever since. I told my doctor last time I was in there and he chalked it up to me over doing it. I am not sure though. I have been trying to rest ever since then and take it easy but it does not seem to help. Last Thursday I felt almost as sick as I was in the beggining with the brain fog, fatigue, and weakness all over, not to mention all the aching joints. I am now experiencing a sore throat, right ear pain, swollen eyelid on right eye only and really sensitive hearing and sight and bad sinus pressure and oh yea, dizziness!

I automatically thought this was a herx, but my doctor has differrent ideas. He said he does not really believe in herxes after the first one. This concerns me. I thought this was how we were supposed to tell if the medicine is wroking. He wants me to go for a sleep study becasue he thinks I am not getting enough sleep. He had mentioned this a few weeks ago but I shrugged it off.

Has anyone else been directed to do one of these and if so did it help?

He also put me on oral Flagyl 1000 mg a day and Clindamycin 300mg a day and I am still doing my infused antibiotics as well. Is that a lot? I was under the impression he was going to pull my picc line soon but I guess with all this he is keeping it in. I am thankful for that.

I am just starting to get a little concerned becasue he seems to treat Lyme aggresively but he has some different ideas of the symptoms of Lyme. I know that these things came on when i got sick and they are defiantley due to the Lyme.

I also have a quetion about Samento. Is anyone taking this while they are on antibiotics? I have been on Savarento(cat's Claw) since I started the antibiotics and I ran out of it. Then I ordered Samento (cats claw) and I feel that it makes me feel worse. Any input on this would be appreciated. I am not sure if I should keep on it with all of the antibiotics that I am on.

I also concerened about starting to build my immune system back up and also testing for heavyt metals. Oh so mnay questions. I am pretty new to all of this stuff so any advice would be appreciated.

Take care!
Diane
Hi Diane. Which doctor are you seeing? You can use initials only if you want. Is the Zithromax oral or IV?

I would be concerned too about what the doctor said about herxing. Herxes can affect people differently, but many experience them every three to four weeks. Over time they should become less severe. It is normal to feel worse before feeling better when getting treated for these diseases and it can take time.

Have you been tested for all the co-infections--Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma?

Flagyl can be hard for some to tolerate and many need to build up their dose gradually. It seems like a lot to take Flagyl, Clindamycin, Zithromax, and Rocephin at once. Please make sure this is correct. You may want to consider getting another opinion.

It is important to learn as much as you can. I recommend reading Dr. Joseph Burrascano's treatment guidelines. He is one of the top Lyme doctors in the country, and many Lyme doctors follow his protocols. These guidelines inclue diet and supplement recommendations. I also recommend the book
"Everything You Need To Know About Lyme Disease (2nd edition)" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner.
