Lyme Disease Board Index
Hi cbsoapfan, welcome to the board!

How long have you been sick? Were you tested for all the co-infections: Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma? What meds are you taking?
I have been sick for about 11 months. Shortly after a Gallbladder surgery, I was bitten by a deer tick. I never go outside. I am an indoors person through and through. One day our neighbor's water line was struck by lightning so I went out to look at them fixing it. I may have been out for 30 minutes or so before I got sick and tired of being outside. Came back in took a shower. The next morning the back of my knee was itching. I didn't think anything about it because I have allergies to dust mites and I itch all the time. It wasn't until two or three days later when I decided to inspect the back of my knee. There was the blood sucking creature.

A few days later I got a mysterious rash around the tick area and got flu like symptoms. So I shot over to Urgent Care.

To make a long story short, I got "treated." Then the all important "tests" came back negative. So they dropped the ball. I didn't know anything about tick borne illnesses so I listened. A few weeks later the symptoms returned and were worse. I went from my PCP to a Rheumatologist to a Neurologist. Lupus, MS and a host of other illnesses were cleared. Finally my husband got online and found out about this doctor. I saw him March 1st and he explained about all the test not being accurate.

So I am on Doxycline (twice a day), Augmentin (twice a day), and week 2 and 4 I'll be on Flagyl. Then after four weeks of this, I'll have a two week rest and start the 4 week treatment again. In the middle of April, I'll go back for the Western Blot to see if it will come back with positive bands. I'm also on Ultraflora, Vitamin A, and L-Glutamine. Twice a week I take Diflucan to make sure that my yeast is not out of control.

So I've not had a positive test, but I do have a LLMD that used my clinical symptoms to make a diagnosis. He doesn't take insurance so the only thing that insurance covers is two of the antibiotics. Sucks, but I'll do what I have to do to get well.

I would have gone to Jesmek, but Pittman was closer. I am looking for boards that will give me the information and support that I will probably need through the treatment. I know that my treatment may last longer, but I'm hoping that we caught this thing early enough that I won't have serious complications.
