Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Sorry about the foreign language, we forget that not everyone comes to this board with some Lyme knowledge. I am so sorry that you are going through this. Like I said before do not get discouraged, I know hard to say huh. These doc's put their licenses on the line to treat LD, they are very good at what they do, and unfortunately there is alot of red tape with this disease. I have spent the last 6 months since I've been diag. on the internet reading everything about Lyme that I could find. I wish that I had found this board sooner. Look up everything you can, and go back on this board and read past posts. Look-up Dr. J. Burrascano's Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and other Tick Borne Illness, you can print it out. See if you can find a copy of the book Coping with Lyme Disease, 3rd edition, by Denise Lang.

I know, you're probably still confused. We can't really explain it to you in a post, you need to research alot of this stuff on your own.

Co-infections are other tick-borne diseases that you can be infected with. Your doctor will go over which ones he or she will test for depending on symptoms and the area that you live in. Herxing is what you go through after you have started antibiotic treatment, different people react to treatment differently, it is a worsening of symptoms and sometimes new symptoms come along that you didn't have before. ABX's are antibiotics. I can't say whether 4-6 weeks of treatment is enough for you, only your doc. after seeing you and receiving test results will be able to give you an idea of how long you will need treatment. My son has been on antibiotics for 6 months and has seen good results, he was seeing images, biting the skin off his fingers, shaking, flunking classes and too exhausted to go to school. These symptoms have gone away, but he is still too tired to go to school all day, his neck still hurts, and he gets worn out very easily. I have been on antibotics the same amount of time and the same ABX's as him, and I ahve had no improvement. It all depends on the person. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you a definate cure time, we just don't know. My doc told me 2 1/2 to 3 years of ABX's and siad that he didn't know if my shoulder would ever recover because I have nerve damage, it is my worst area. Research as much as you can, beleive me it is worth it, I am still learning more everyday, and I have this Lyme brain that also sometimes causes me not to be able to explain things very well, Ticker are you out there? If anyone can help you Ticker can. I'm sure she will reply to this post and help you some more. Good Luck, and know that we are here for you. Sarah
