Re: IgeneX results
Hello all!

I finally got my results, here they are. I'm just going to post the positive and IND bands. I'm not really sure what to make of it, thanks :-)

Igm western blot
23-25 IND
31 +
39 IND
58+
66+
83-93 IND

IgG Western Blot
28+
31 IND
41++
45+

Thanks for the help  I also wanted to mention that I was on antibiotics when I took this test, I'm wondering if that effected the results and I should retake?
So sik, has your doc went over these results with you? The kDa 41 is Lyme specific, it isn't pos. unless you have LD, and you have ++, my son's results are very similar to yours, but has less pos. on IGM than you do. and he has been told by 2 different LLMD's that he has LD. By CDC and Igenex he is neg. but has ++ on the kDa 41 like you. Dr. Jones is the best ped. LLMD in the world, so I trust his judgement completely. If he says it's LD then you know it is. I imagine he is basing it on the kda41++. I'm sorry to tell you I honestly believe that yes, you do have LD by your results. I'm so sorry hun. We are here for you on this board ask us anything, complain, whine, we understand. Research everything you can about LD and get tested for co-infections also. Sincerely, Sarah

The nurse at Dr. C's office went over it pretty quickly and said it looks like you were exposed to B.B at one time by looking at these results. I got so much information that I only caught maybe 25% of what was going on.

So, he wants me to start on IV's of course I have to see my PCP (oh gosh) to "follow through" with his order. I'm nervous about this, really. I don't know what to say if she says "no", I'm trying to have a positive attitude. I cannot afford treatment at his office, it would cost 1500.00 + a month. If I had good credit I would take out a loan at this point. We'll see. I'm just trying to look on the bright side, I'm praying she will head his advice.

The visit was great, I really like the way the atmosphere was. I was nervous at first, but it all went wonderful.

I'm not worried about having LD, I've lived this way for so long I can only look up from here :) I would love to be able to do IV for 3 months or so then orals. These Nuero probs kill me, UGH!

I hope that your PCP will go along with Dr. C's recommendation too. But don't be too surprised if she won't this happens frequently. I don't know if you have read any of my posts about my son, but he was not diag. for 6 years after being infected and has done great on oral ABX's, he is doing better than my friends daughter who had it for 4 years before diag. and has been on IV. If you cannot get the IV, definately go on Orals, make sure you take probiotics and supplements, and eat right, all this helps. I'm glad you have a positive attitude, that will help you heal quicker, the mind is a powereful healing tool! :) Good Luck with everything and keep us informed. sincerely, Sarah:wave:

Hi so sik of this.
Below is the breakdown of the Western Blot bands:

9 cross-reactive for Borrellia
12 specific for Bb
18 unknown
20 cross-reactive for Borrellia
21 unknown
22 specific for Bb, probably really the 23/25 band
23-25 outer surface protein C (OspC), specific for Bb
28 unknown
30 unknown; probably an outer surface protein; common in European and
one California strain
31 outer surface protein A (OspA), specific for Bb
34 outer surface protein B (OspB); specific for Bb
35 specific for Bb
37 specific for Bb
38 cross-reactive for Bb
39 is a major protein of Bb flagellin; specific for Bb
41 flagellin protein of all spirochetes; this is usually the first to appear after a Bb infection and is specific for all Borrellia
45 cross-reactive for all Borellia (sometimes people with Lyme who have
this band positive also have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis)
50 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
55 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
57 cross-reactive for all Borrellia
58 unknown but may be a heat-shock Bb protein
60 cross reactive for all Borrellia
66 cross-reactive for all Borrelia, common in all bacteria
83 specific antigen for the Lyme bacterium, probably a cytoplasmic membrane
93 unknown, probably the same protein in band 83, just migrates differently in some patients

The IgM tests for a more recent infection, the IgG a longer standing one. Band 41 is often the first to show, and yours is positive. Bnads 23-25, 31, 39are Lyme specific bands and yours are either IND or +. Your results are significant.

Were you tested for all the co-infections? Some people who have band 45 positive have Ehrlichiosis. I did.

Good luck with your treatment!
