Hi meri123.

I asked the exact same question. :)

Length of treatment and speed of recovery depends on many factors. For example, how long you've sick, what strain of bacteria you are infected with, if you have co-infections, if you choose to go with antibiotics, if you choose alternative treatment methods, detoxing, etc.

I was under treatment for about 9 months before I felt any improvement at all. I had been bitten a few years prior (maybe 2 or 3 yrs prior).

During those 9 months I tried a number of different antibiotics; I followed the advice of my LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) and let her choose my treatment protocol.

Eventually I tried Levaquin and that made a huge difference; my brain fog is 90% gone, although I still feel sick with many other symptoms.

I have also tried alternative methods of treatment: raindrop therapy, Jernigan tinctures, fasting, detox baths, etc. I have found them helpful but not enough to put me over the edge like the antibiotics did.

Mental attitude & lifestyle choices can also affect recovery. My choices are not perfect. I smoke, my attitude frequently stinks and sometimes I have a drink wine.

It's different for everyone. I wish I had a more specific answer for you. I know how darned frustrating it is to want desperately to know when the hell will end and you will feel like your old self again.

Currently I am on IV Rocephin. It's only been 5 weeks so I don't know if it'll help.

Don't know if I answered your question. :)

When were you diagnosed? Are you seeing an LLMD? What treatment are you on?

Peace and health to you,
Mickie
