Could I have Lyme?
Aug 24, 2007
I've posted here a couple times, but mostly right after I had Lyme Disease a few years ago. It was treated right away- after I'd had the rash for 3 weeks and then suddenly realized what it was- but I was only given antibiotics for 14 days. Now I'm hearing that that might not have been enough, even though it was caught in the early stages. Is this true?

I still have symptoms once in a while that seem like they could be Lyme symptoms. From that list of Lyme symptoms, I occasionally get one or more of these symptoms:

Unexplained fevers, sweats, chills, or flushing (not too often anymore)
Fatigue, tiredness, poor stamina (could be from Epstein-Barr)
Swollen glands (could be from Epsetin-Barr)
Sore throat (from my allergies?)
Irritable bladder or bladder dysfunction
Change in bowel function-constipation, diarrhea
Heart palpitations, pulse skips, heart block
Joint pain or swelling
Stiffness of the joints, neck, or back
Confusion, difficulty in thinking (from Epilepsy)
Difficulty with speech or writing (from Epilepsy)
Mood swings, irritability, depression (seems to be hormonal)

As you see, some of these symptoms I could attribute to Epstein-Barr, and Epilepsy. Others can just be one of those random things you get once in a while, like the heart palpitations and constipation.
Though the unexplained joint pains thing, that's when I usually start to worry about Lyme's. Almost a year ago, I had bursitis in my shoulder for NO REASON. I never had an injury or fell on it or anything. And Sometimes I just get a sore hip or a sore knee for no reason.

Does this sound like Lyme? Can anyone recommend a LLMD in Connecticut?
Thanks!
