Blood test FINALLY
Oct 6, 2007
Hi Everyone:

My doctor is going to draw the blood next week for Igenex. He ordered the "Basic Lyme Panel #4090" for $245.00. Is that the correct one to order? I've had 5 lyme tests since being bitten July 22, 2007. All NEGATIVE, no suprise. And if I do have lyme would it show up this early, its not been 3 months since, or should I wait...

Western Blot IgG, Western blot Igm, Lyme IFA.

I saw an allergist on Wed, I go into his office take a pill "Celor" and wait and see what happens for 2 hours. All the pills for lyme I can't take allergeric to ALL OF THEM. Yes ALL OF THEM. So they are having a very hard time dealing with this with me.

I don't have a LYME doctor I'm still seeing the ID doctor who believes that lyme is a very serious illiness and very under rated. He said 10 days worth of pills do no good, it will be months after we find somehthing I can take. He also believes in Cronic lyme...

I just want my life back. Since I'm new into lyme, will it be years and years once we find a pill I can take??? My only complaint is the neck pain and burning on my upper body (chest)....I take Lyrica for it and WOW it helps love the pill, but it takes a week or two to get used to. Very out of it and dizzy but worth the wait.

Thank you
Hi Julie. I think the basic panel is a good place to start. Remember that no test for Lyme is completely reliable. On the Western Blot, the CDC requires a large number of bands to show for it to be considered positive yet many people who have Lyme do not have this many bands show. Lyme doctors often focus on which bands show, some are specific for Lyme.

It is important to be tested by a Lyme reputable lab such as IgeneX in Palo Alto, CA. They have more sensitive tests and list more bands on the Western Blot. Testing should be used as an aid in diagnosis not solely for diagnosis. A lyme knowledgeable doctor will not rely solely on test results to diagnose tick-borne illnesses. You should also be tested for all the co-infections.

I wonder if you would have the same reactions to IV antibiotics? Maybe you should ask your doctor.

I thought you had an appointment with a Lyme doctor?
