Kelly--
Hi, I've been reading posts on Lyme, and noticed that you're fom L.I. too..so I read lot of your older posts....I'm glad that you're feeling better....
I've been having many crazy symptoms since around Aug. of last year...I've seen 2 neuro's, 5 neurosurgeons (I have some disc issues in my c-spine), and had numerous MRI'S and EMG's, and blood tests. Dr's seem confused...I had a spinal tap, which was tested for lyme as well as many other things...it came back negative----but something is definitely affecting my system (muscle twitches, difficulty walking--legs feel very heavy and stiff, overall weakness..) My question to you is:--should I first get a test kit from IGENEX, and see what it reveals, them make an appointment with Dr. R...or just go see him and let him order the test ??? ANy advice would be appreciated...
Thanks so much---continue to feel better.... Doug
It depends on how you want to spend your money. If you are pretty sure you are going to see Dr. R. no matter what - then just let him do the labs because he will probably run very specific ones, maybe more than just lyme panel - western blot. etc. He may want to check thyroid functions, and other things. However, if you want to see if you test positive first and then see him - the order the kit and have your doc draw the blood and send it in.
I ordered the kit, but now I decided just to go see Dr. Rax next month.

I have had every symptom you mention as well as a bulging disc c5/c6. MRI/MRA. It sounds like I have been through exactly what you are going through. I had the spinal tap - negative. I was in the Er last year like five or six times in one to two months. I had four or five western blots drawn since sept of 07 and they were negative. Finally, last week - positive. Just as you I saw two neuro, one neursurgeon, rheumatologist, ENT for dizziness, Cardiologist. Everything was negative - but I remained with neuro symptoms.
Heavy legs, slurred speech, dizzy, some joint pain - not severe, migraines, head pressure, light sensitivity, cold sensations shooting in my head, eye/ear pain, ear fullness, teeth pain, felt like my legs would move several times, general weakness also. I understand your symptoms. Most likely, if you have had a complete worku-up for every possible thing and it is all neg. I bet it is lyme.

Don't give up. See Dr. R.

Danielle

Ktinbk-

I always thought I was the only one who got those really weird headches.. Like something bad was going to happen.. stroke or seizure.. Its the worst feeling.. When I was unable to get a diagnosis I would tell dr.'s about that feeling.. like something bad was going to happen to me and then they would refer me to a psychologist.. I definitely feel for you.. I know EXACTLY that feeling and its terrible.. Hang in there.. Dr. R is amazing and in time you will feel better.. Its a long road..

Doug.. I would not have the igenex test done before seeing Dr. R... When you meet with him he will do some crazing testing on you at the office and give you a diagnosis even before they take your blood.. and believe me what he says you have.. you WILL test positive for.. and you will walk out of there with the right meds.. he is amazing at what he does.. let me know if you have any other questions..

Kelly
