Re: Iv antibiotics
May 29, 2008
I saw Dr. Paul Auwaerter in Feb this year and I'm glad I did. Went to a number of different doctors that told me I had Lyme disease, including a LLMD. To make a long story short, I had Lyme 7 year ago and test positive, treated with 21 days of antibiotics and fortunately was able to move on with my life. Last July I found a tick on me and soon after started having arthritic pain, shortness of breath and a few other symptoms. Went to numerous doctors and tested positive every time for Lyme, since I had it 7 years ago...most people who had Lyme will always test positive for it. Problem was, none of the doctors looked outside of Lyme, that is until I went to Dr. Auwaerter. He tested me for everything and eventually diagnosis me with Parvovirus...my son was sick in June with what we thought was the Rotavirus...turns out it was Parvo.

The LLMD wanted to start me on long term antibiotics and my Rheumatologist wanted to start me on IV antibiotics. Every other doctor deferred to the Rhuem recommendation. Looking back I was almost brainwashed into thinking it was Lyme....I was skeptical going to Hopkins and was ready to do the IV/long term antibiotic approach because I felt hopeless and wanted to get better...I thought my outlook was bleak.

You have to go in with an open mind and listen to what he has to say...but he was by far the most thorough Doctor I saw and very knowledgeable on all accounts...
