Hi everyone,

Thanks for such a supportive community. I was diagnosed with Lyme 2 weeks ago. First I saw a small red rash on my abdomen with a bite mark in the middle. Two days after that I came down with 101 degree fever, chills, aches, flu-like symptoms. I was seen in the ER and started on Amoxicillin 500 mg 3x day. Two days after that my rash became the classic bulls-eye rash.

I have been on the amoxicillin for 2 weeks now, with one week left in my Rx. After the first couple days my symptoms went away and I felt much better. Five days ago, though, they started to come back and have been getting worse - chills, bad muscle aches, mild joint pains, mild headache, extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, night sweats. No fever.

Now I don't know what's going on. Went to my PCP yesterday who switched me to minocycline, starting today (100 mg 2x/day). He doesn't really know what to do, though. Might this be a co-infection? If so, how should it be diagnosed? Or a herx after 1.5 weeks? Or a normal fluctuation for the Lyme to get worse? Or something else?

Not sure why I'm on mino instead of doxy... any advice there would be appreciated.

Most of all, I want to find a LLMD in Boston area since my PCP has little expertise. Have heard of Dr. Sam D but have also heard he doesn't treat co-infections, which I am wondering about. Any other ideas? I will definitely drive to see someone!

Thanks so much - trying to really nip this in the bud before any lasting damage happens - the stories I read about long term Lyme and what a lot of people suffer with are so sad...

best,
Julie
