Next Step????
Feb 27, 2011
Hi All,

I new to the Lyme world and I'm experiencing the frustration that so many others are experiencing/have experienced in the past. My symptoms (listed below) started in June of 2010. I saw my general practitioner and was given the standard "it's in your head" diagnosis. After seeing multiple specialists, taking multiple blood tests/etc., and given multiple diagnosis', 9 months later at the end of February 2011, the symptoms persist.

Here are the symptoms that i've encountered over the last 9 months:

-Fatigue, tiredness, etc. (can't get enough sleep, tired all the time, tired eyes). Can't wait to go home and rest after work.
-Groin Pain (ache, off and on)
-Frequent Urination (what i think is too frequent)
-Joint Pain (not bad, but noticable)
-Arthragia (more in the connective tissue near elbows)
-Back Pain (aches usually starts in the early afternoon, lower-mid back, sometimes very painful)
-Muscles tire easily, lactic acid "build-up feeling" if i'm crouching (baseball catcher's stance), carrying anything with a little weight to it (grocery basket through the store, etc.)
-Tingling in hands when i wake up in the morning, electric "shocks" feelings, shooting pains, pains in finger joints
- Legs fall asleep easily when i cross them, etc.
-Tired eyes, "dry eyes" - Dx'd with Blepharitis or "eyelid inflammation"
-Slight ringing in ears, slight "fullness" in ears
- Affected by Alcohol a lot more, worse hangover from alcohol.

After seeing multiple specialists, I was finally advised to take a Lyme test, through a Holistic Dr. who advised me to take a western blot igm, igg, and multiplex pcr test through Igenex.

My Igenex results are as follows:

IGENEX IGM RESULT POSITIVE
CDC/NYS RESULT NEGATIVE

FYI - The holistic dr. advised me to take Lyme Nosode, which I took (5 drops every night for 8 days) prior to the blood draw. Does anyone know if that would affect the results of the test, especially since i tested positive for the lyme specific bands: 31, 34, 39 IND. ???? (I am worried this skewed the results since it specifically says on the test "limitation - positive result for 31 and 34 may be present after lyme vaccination. I know that the nosode ins't a vaccine, but i does contain trace amounts of the inactive bacteria, but still not sure if the nosode is potent enough to skew results.)

I've read these threads up and down, have read about Lyme testing, the debate about igenex and cdc standards, false positives, accuracy, the entire "gray area" that encompasses topic of lyme disease. I know that symptoms need to be reviewed along with bloodwork for a diagnosis.

My questions: Would Lyme nosode skew results on the Igm? And, how should i seek treatment, i.e. what is the most resonable step? should I seek the help of an LLMD based on my bloodwork and symptoms? (Like many of you, i am tired of throwing $$$ into the bottomless pit, and i am also skeptical of numerous amounts of holistic/herbal, etc. treatments that are out there, all of which seem to cost some serious cash).

Also, the day after the blood draw, i started self medicating on Doryx (doxycicline 150mg, twice a day). I refilled an old prescription that i was prescribed before for folliculitis. I'm currently on day 23 of the 300mg regimen and have not experienced any herxing (i don't think) and do not have any improvement of symptoms.

I apologize for the lengthy post. Any advice/help/encouragement would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!
