Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Hi! I have almost exactly the same symptoms you have and I also had band 41 show reactive on both igm and igg. However, my regular doctor said I am negative. The Quest Lab report stated the test was negative. I now have an appointment with another doctor who specializes in Lymes. I have not told my regular doctor about this other appointment because he seemed so put-off when I asked to see my tests. Have you found out anything since your post on the 16th? I don't know anything about epstein barr virus. I do know that I was exposed to Leptospirosis years ago when I adopted a dog who was later diagnosed with lepto. I also wonder if that could cause my reactive band. I will ask the doctor when I go in two months (doctor had no appointments till then). I will ask him about the epstein barr when I go if you are still wanting to know.
Did your doctor say which lab he will be using? From some of the other post I have read on this board, Igenex Lab in CA is the leading lab for Lymes testing. This is the lab that the LLMD I will be seeing uses. But, even using this lab, there seems to be no test that can say for sure if you have lymes or not. I hate to go through months (maybe years) of antibiotics...the side-effects and costs....and not be 100% sure what it is. That's the may never be sure. Right now my symptoms are very much like yours.

Slight headache...more like a foggy feeling
Low-grade fever (99-100) and feeling "feverish" almost everyday
Achey joints in hands and knees
Anxiety like feelings
Feeling of tightness in my throat

Do you know if you were bitten by a tick? I have been bitten many times over the years. I spend a lot of time in the woods in an area populated with deer. That is one of the reasons I suspect Lyme's even though my doctor doesn't agree. I never had a bulls eye rash of flu-like symptoms, but I have had small red area around the bite that itched. Since I have had contact with ticks my whole life, it's hard to say when I may have been infected. I am very careful to check myself whenever I come in from being in the woods, but the ticks are tiny and I have missed some that were in my long hair or on my back (under the waistband of my jeans). I work with animals, so that also puts my in contact with ticks.

I'll be sure to post what I hear from the specialist. Look for my post in June. Hope you get the answers you need.
