Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Hey all,

This is my first time on the healthboards. Here's my situtation:
1. Bit by deer tick in 2009, undertreated with Doxycycline.
2. Lyme symptoms started becoming noticeable (bad) in 09/2011.
3. Finally diagnosed with Lyme in 03/2013 (official Western Blot).

Here's the problem:
I can't do probiotics! I get massive heart palpitations, skin rashes, and have difficulty breathing. I've read that people with weakened immune systems should not take probiotics since the friendly probiotic bacteria can leave the gut and invade other organs, which is bad.

What the heck am I supposed to do? I can't possibly be able to take these massive amounts of antibiotics with out supplementing with probiotics.

Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

(And no, it is not the TYPE of probiotic I am using. I have literally tried every probiotic under the sun and they all produce the same reaction.)

Please help!

-Ecalypsa
First....I'm sorry! I'm very new to Lyme myself, so I'm not sure if I'll be of much help.

It may not be sufficient in terms of the amount of probiotic, but are you able to tolerate it in food? Like yogurt with acidophilus?

Are you sure those symptoms are not Lyme disease or a herx reaction? Sometimes medicines and supplements make the Lyme symptoms worse but it's due to the toxins from the borrelia die off. Or it could be that you should try a different probiotic. The one that's worked for my daughter is Prescript-Assist Probiotic & Prebiotic blend. It's made of soil based organisms, which sounds really gross but it worked great.
