Hi all,
Are the standard lab tests for Lyme accurate if its been years since infection?

Simply, No. This is why lyme specialists diagnose primarily by symptoms.

I guess what I am trying to ask is IF I have Lyme would it show up with no doubt on these immunological tests?
Again, tests for lyme are not accurate because many factors need to be present at the time of testing. Also, the lab that does the testing is important. To date, Igenex Lab in Palo Alto California is where your blood should have been sent.

With what you've described, hunting in the woods, having a bullseye rash (which is specific to lyme infection), and ongoing symptoms, I would offer that you likely have LD and should seek an LLMD for care as soon as possible. If you read the stickys at the top of this board there is more information about all this. A Neurologist, Dermatologist, or any other kind of specialist is not qualified to advise or treat LD. In fact, this is why many people end up with chronic, late-stage lyme disease, because they waste precious time going from one uninformed specialist to another looking for answers (btw: an elevated white blood count is usually indicative of an infection).

Hope you can find the help you need.
