Lyme Disease Message Board

Lyme Disease Board Index

Hi, I am new to this message board, and I'm desperately looking for some help. I am a 46 year old female. I was bitten by a tick when I lived in Florida about 3 years ago. The tick had bitten into my arm, and I have no clue how long it was there. At the time, I didn't know a lot about Lyme and how serious it was. A doctor friend removed the tick (which had a red ring around it) and threw the tick on the ground. I didn't think much of keeping the tick and having it tested. I Since that time, I have had many strange things start to happen to me. I started experiencing upper back and neck pain. The orthopedic doctor I saw really couldn't say what was causing it. He sent me for a steroidal injection. The injection didn't really help, and it made me severely ill for a few days after. I decided just to deal with the back pain and not go back again. I then began to experience hair loss. My PCP referred me to an endocrinologist to have my thyroid checked. My thyroid blood work was normal, but the endocrinologist put me on a low dose of thyroid medication just in case. After that, I was generally healthy for about a year. We moved to South Carolina about a year ago. Since that time, more weird things have begun happening to me. I developed a sore on one of my legs. I have seen multiple dermatologists and infectious disease doctors who still haven't quite figured out what the sore is. I have been on so many oral and topical medications for the sore, I have lost count. The infectious disease doctor put me on a combo of doxy and cipro about four months ago. Since that time, I feel like I am falling apart. I am having severe joint pain all over, weird twitching in my face and toes, slurred speech, eyes not focusing correctly, severe TMJ, night sweats, and muscle weakness all over. I have been tested for Lyme twice, and both times, the tests have come back negative. I am now being referred to a neurologist. I keep researching my symptoms, and each time I research, I keep coming back to Lyme. I have seen where the results can be negative and I can still have Lyme disease. My question is this, is anyone familiar with a good LLMD in the upstate South Carolina/North Carolina area? I am willing to drive as long as the doctor is a good one! Thanks in advance for your help!
