Hi Mickie - Notice by the band 41 there is the IgG and IgM - these stand for the type of antibodies...IgM antibodies with most infections are the antibodies the body makes in response to a recent onslaught of infection...the IgG's are those that are indicative of a long standing infection or old antibodies...in the case of lyme it is hard to use these hard and fast... ... Hi trust1. Here is the breakdown of the Western Blot bands: 9 cross-reactive for Borrellia 12 specific for Bb 18 unknown 20 cross-reactive for Borrellia 21 unknown 22 specific for Bb, probably really the 23/25 band 23-25 outer surface protein C (OspC), specific for Bb 28 unknown (8 replies)
... d there is no other reason it would be reactive. As I understand it, the 41 is questionable because it's not specific for Lyme, but being that 23was reactive on IgM on both tests, I'm thinking that pretty much means I must have had it at the time of the first test. ... The IgM tests for a more resent infection, the IgG a longer standing one. Band 41 is often the first to show and yours is positive. Bands 31, 34, and 39 are Lyme specific and yours are IND or positive. These results are significant. ... (30 replies)
