... Hi gmcnj. It is good that you have been thoroughly tested and good that you are negative for the co-infections. IV antibiotics are much stronger than orals. Long-term treatment, oral or IV, is typical for Lyme disease. Sometimes it can take time to find the best med(s) for each case. It sounds like your doctor is knowledgeble. Are you seeing a Dr. E. in NJ? (5 replies)

... What does the milk thistle do and how do you recommend using it? I've been reading the length of time everyone is on IV. My lyme PA suggested it might be 6 months? Are their side effects and do most actually feel better after treatment? I am at a stagnation point, not getting better, but not getting worse. She mentioned this as an option. ... I was just diagnosed with lyme disease and had a PICC line put in and have had my second dose of rocephin. I know the general side effects of the intravenous antibiotics, but I was wondering what to expect more specifically as I continue with the treatment. I have heard of the Herxheimer reaction. ... You really need to see a lyme specialist (an LLMD). These other doctors you're seeing are curtailing your recovery because they are not specialized in lyme disease treatment. A lyme specialist MD would never have put you on just 2 weeks of abx, or even 3 weeks. Read the sticky at the top of this board "Lyme Newbies" for further info. All the best to you, Jen (6 replies)
... What treatment options should I pursue at this point? ... (3 replies)
... Mine last for a few days and then they are over for another 3 weeks. I'm far into treatment and the herx's aren't so easy to time. Some days I will feel fine and then a day or two, I'll feel bad. ... (7 replies)
