... the IgG a longer standing one. Band 41 is often the first band to show. Bands 31, 34, and 39 are Lyme specific bands. All of these bands mentioned are either positive or IND on your test. Although I am not a doctor, I think your results are signifcant and combined with your symptoms I think treatment is warranted. ... (2 replies)

... Hi J. There is no completely reliable test for Lyme disease. The CDC requires several bands to show for the Western Blot to be considered positive, yet many people who have Lyme do not have this many bands show. Lyme doctors often focus on which bands show, some are specific for Lyme. In my opinion, the CDC is very behind the times regarding tick-borne illnesses. (4 replies)

... Hi Marlene- one of the top neuros in the country told me that my sx look like MS but they move around too much. 3Love had the same comment from her docs (positive IGenex this week). I also had what Bill described. Every 4 weeks my symptoms would spike and then plateau at a higher level than previous. Good luck in finding a LLMD- you may have to travel but it is worth it! ... Piobaire, I'm glad that you are taking steps to get tested for Lyme. BC has the highest reported cases of Lyme in all of Canada, especially Vancouver Island, don't know if that is where you were. My son's rash looked like ring worm too, and he was treated with cream for it, and it turned out to be Lyme, we didn't find out for 6 years what was wrong with him, it caused alot of... (12 replies)

... Sleeperwoken, How are you? Yes that is what the doctor said to him. My husband has been going to this doctor for 25 years and basically has never had anything wrong with him until recently. He usually only saw him when his kids were sick. The doc even delivered all 3 of his kids. I had never met the doc since we have only been married 2 years, and he hadn't seen him during... ... Sarah, This doctor said "when the results come back negative, come back and I will find out what's really wrong with you." This is not a good sign. Either he had no intention of acknowledging lyme as a possibility right from the beginning, or he is so shocked that he was wrong that he simply can't admit it. Those results are so positively positive, it's a no-brainer. ... (9 replies)

... Also, the spinal tap, if it's being done to test for Lyme, is practically useless. It's not particularly accurate, so the positive you have from the other test means a whole lot more. ... (4 replies)
... If I remember correctly, the IgM indicates whether or not the infection is recent/early stage. The IgG indicates late stage or "old" infection. (I could have those backwards, though.) Anyway, if you have certain bands positive/reactive on the IgM, that would indicate recent infection. If you have certain bands reactive on the IgG, that would mean you've had the infection... ... Hi raylp, welcome to the board! Do you have Lyme disease? There is no completely reliable test for Lyme disease. The CDC requires a large number of bands for the Western Blot to be considered positive, yet many people who have Lyme do not have this many bands present.
