Right if you are genuinly telling the truth here you are a godsend, I have had them since the age of about 15, mine have got less noticeable with time but I still have some prominent ones. I am now 21 years old, I don't care what anyone says but they have definatley ruined my life since having them as well as a few other problems. Are you from the UK ? how did you go about finding a dermatoligist, I have seen numerous doctors, all telling me nothing can be done about them, and ive read online that laser surgery causes the PPP to return more prominent later on in life and can damge nerves etc. How long ago did you have this procedure ? sorry for all the questions mate but I just want to get something done about these. many thanks.

RESPONSE.

I live in the USA, and have had them for about 10 years I would guess. 3 years ago, I went to see a general practitioner doctor, my "primary care doctor", and she said I could go see a urologist, but she would recommend that I just leave them alone. I didn't do anything to them, and they seem to become larger. I went to a dermatologist in October of this year, and had them removed. I just chose one, it wasn't anything special. She did a combination of treatments to get rid of them, from surgical, "cutting them off", to cauterizing them. (burning them off). It wasn't great, but she numbed them, and after that it didn't hurt. I haven't noticed any nerve problems or anything, and I would have had this done a long time ago if I knew it was that easy. I would say any sort of side effect you would have would be minimal to you describing how it's ruined your life.
In terms of finding a doctor, a dermatologist or urologist should be able to do this procedure no problem. I don't know how your health care is set up in the UK, but your doctors there are just as competent as the ones here, and you probably have found a few doctors that think you don't need to do anything about it. I would keep trying, especially if it is covered by your health insurance or the government insurance. As a last resort, a plastic surgeon would be able to do this, and you would definitely have a great result, but that's probably overkill for ppp. Keep me posted as to how it goes, or if you have any more questions.

Yes he is telling the truth. ppp can be removed by electrocautery and Dr Berkowitz in London can do it very affordably. I had laser treatment (very expensive) and was advised by my doctor that they will not reappear but 8 months is still too early to tell. So far there is no sign of them! If this has troubled you, there is a way to rid yourself of the nuisance. Good luck in your quest and I hope this helps.
