I take Klonopin, a benzodiazepine, occasionally for my social anxiety. (I'm also on lexapro which doesn't help at all.) With Klonopin, I can take small doses and survive an interview for a job, or possibly a school night without thinking about SAD one bit. I have gone through about 4 years of intense social anxiety and before Klonopin I drank lots of alcohol to survive social situations.

Anyhow, I'm 24 years old now and I have faced some new challenges. Every time I go for a job interview, I do so well because I have full confidence while being "high" on my drugs. Ironically I'm more focused being on sedative drugs, then focussing on my anxiety and physical symptoms which follow. The drawback is, most companies now days require a drug screening.

The last 3 jobs I've been through I've had problems. I have had to tell the labs which do the urine tests, to write down my prescription when they send it out, because it will come out positive. Once, even though they did that, I failed. On another occasion, I had to let my employer know what drugs I was taking because the lab refused to write down any prescriptions down. This rips me apart because I am judged now on a mental problem I have which is being controlled. (I take my medications responsibly.) Also I have never tried to pursue any of my career goals because of my problems.

Another problem I have is, I don't have medical insurance, and I'm running out of medicines, and can't afford to pay out of pocket. Without a job I can't get the benefits, and without the medicines I can't get a job. Catch 22.

Anyone have any advice on this? Any advice on drug testing, or possibly have a similar situation to share? Help.
